Despite that loss, she found that, in her words, "God closes doors so that He can get us to go through others", her path would be a different one- a way to reach people's hearts and effect real change in their lives. She launched Solace Radio in November 2006, and it grew to reach its current 70 countries worldwide, thousands of listening hours per month, and a variety of teachers sharing a message of hope, true peace, and in-depth teaching of Scripture from the Messianic Hebraic roots perspective. Listeners' "Love letters", as James calls them, are plastered on the website at http://www.solaceradio.com as testament of how it has renewed their faith, taught them incredible things they never knew existed in the Bible, and led them to be spiritually fed in a deep way they had never before experienced. Torah is a foreign word to many Christians and people of other faiths, "but it shouldn't be," said James. "It should be second nature to want more out of the Bible we grew up with, to be able to go deeper into that book and really understand it, finally, as one whole scripture where every book, from Genesis to Revelation has profound implications for our lives, today. Even Christian pastors are listening to Solace Radio, and it's changing the way they teach and study, themselves. What makes it great is that someone who's not a Bible scholar is on the same playing field as those who've been 'New Testament' experts, because they can eventually be those 'scholars' themselves. The teachers are excellent, and many of them come from Baptist, Pentecostal, and other denominational backgrounds, so they really know their stuff." The staff is seeing incredible things in the station's statistics, such as 26% of the listeners tuning in for 1 to 4 hours, and 15% listening for more than 4 hours. Some listen over 12 hours at a time. "That is very rare, to have listener behavior like that," said James, who has been in radio, terrestrial and Internet radio, television, and newspaper, combined, for more than 33 years. "I almost expected to have to start at ground zero again, after we left Live365 forming our own network, Meander Radio Network, as part of Meander Media Group. The other part of the "we" is Eric St. James, who also has a long history in radio- 35 years, who recently joined Solace as Digital Broadcasting Operations Manager for both stations, and Program Director for the new 32k station, Solace Radio - Torah 101. "He has an amazing story about his own journey 'to Solace'. We met as broadcasters when we were on the Live365 Network. We were both there for a long time, without knowing one another, just noticing each other's posts in the forums there, and then one night while I was on Facebook, I commented on one of his posts, and he messaged me in chat. We struck up a conversation about broadcasting. The rest is history. He moved to Colorado to join Solace and to learn about Hebraic roots," said James. "He told me, recently, that, as a child, his training in churches was more society-based instead of having a full biblical foundation, and much of what he was taught was not true. He constantly tells me, after listening to the programs, "I never knew that!" It's a good feeling to know that what we're doing is fulfilling what the Savior told our ancestors, centuries ago, 'Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty" and it's echoed in Isaiah, 'They will neither hunger nor thirst, nor will the desert heat or the sun beat upon them. He who has compassion on them will guide them and lead them beside springs of water.' This programming represents, to many, the 'springs of water' that were promised. When I learned about Hebraic roots, and began to study the whole Bible instead of mostly the New Testament, I felt like I had come home. My spirit was going, "Wow!", all the time, and things that used to bother me or worry me about life suddenly were no big deal. There is a victory in attaining peace and contentment, no matter what your struggles or circumstances are. There's also great comfort in knowing why you were put on this earth. The Lord (Yahweh in Hebrew) closes those doors so we'll go through the ones He chooses. If we let Him. If we'll be aware, and listen to that still small inaudible voice in our spirit. That's the Holy Spirit speaking to you. My still 'voice' led me to solace. I had to lose the other station before I could hear it, metaphorically speaking. I hope Solace Radio continues to lead others to this 'shalom'."
